Resumen
Muchas veces nos preguntamos por qué nuestros alumnos al leer y/o al escribir lo hacen en forma deficiente, no pueden explicar aquello que leen, poner por escrito con claridad la comprensión de conceptos, responder por escrito u oralmente con-signas. En definitiva, observamos un déficit general en recursos, técnicas y habilidades cognitivas y Metacognitivas.Indagar y capacitarse en el desarrollo de dichas habilidades cognitivas y Metacognitivas, y su importancia en la formación académica de los alumnos debería ser un tema de vital importancia para los docentes universitarios. Se hace necesario, conocer qué registro poseen los alumnos acerca de sus propios mecanismos cognitivos así como sobre su autopercepción. Pues será a partir de allí que se podrán pensar acciones que posibiliten el desarrollo de dichos mecanismos y estrategias.A continuación hemos abordado el tema a través de un trabajo de campo con alumnos de la carrera de Odontología de la UCALP, cuyo propósito es documentar y dar cuenta de la necesidad de dar un salto cualitativamente superior en la educación universitaria; involucrando tanto la formación profesional de los alumnos como la de los docentes que conforman el claustro docente.

It is necessary to know what record the students have about their own cognitive mechanisms as well as their selfperception. It will be from there that you can think of actions that enable the development of these mechanisms and strategies.Then we have approached the subject through a field work with students of the career of Dentistry of the UCALP, whose purpose is to document and account for the need to make a qualitatively superior leap in university education; involving both the professional training of the students and that of the teachers that make up the teaching staff.
