Abstract: In this thesis, the essence of the city will be explored, transcending formal and objective definitions to delve into its substance. Urban connections are emphasized, along with the duality of the irrational, and an in-depth exploration of the difference between the historical city. Contemporary perspectives of authors such as Byung-Chul Han, Toyo Ito, Koolhaas, and Borges are interwoven, adding layers of critique and poetry, establishing a rich foundation for understanding the city as a living and changing entity. In this way, the groundwork is laid for urban analysis and design. The humanization of the city, focused on intangible relationships, emerges as an essential component, warning against the danger of a city devoid of soul. The duality between rationality and its absence, human transcendence, and the coexistence of the subjective and objective are erected as crucial elements, laying a profound foundation for urban analysis and the design of the Aetherix Fluvial Passenger Terminal. These theoretical and urbanistic perceptions materialize in the Fluvial Terminal. Its design reflects an organic alignment with its environment, where morphology, influenced by the dynamic interaction between water and structure, transcends conventional forms, embodying a unique expression that encapsulates both functional rationality and poetic exploration. The terminal emerges as a challenging symbol of the notion of a "non-place;" offering an environment that connects individuals with the world and themselves, becoming a space that surpasses impersonality, providing a sense of belonging. In summary, the design of the Aetherix Fluvial Passenger Terminal becomes a poetic and functional testament to the symbiosis between history, innovation, and human experience within the urban landscape.
