Resumen
Resumen: El artículo reflexiona sobre el proceso de la institucionalización del islam en España y pone de manifiesto el papel desempeñado por la Constitución española de 1978 y la Ley Orgánica de Libertad Religiosa de 1980 para garantizar la libertad de culto como derecho fundamental de las personas. España, siendo un país religiosamente plural, reconoce el componente islámico a través de la firma de un Acuerdo de Cooperación con la Comisión Islámica de España (CIE) en 1992. No obstante, las Federaciones islámicas que componen la CIE están inmersas en intensas luchas por el liderazgo, lo que ha hecho que los derechos del colectivo musulmán en España se vean afectados durante más de tres décadas. Esta investigación pretende, además, resaltar los motivos que entorpecen la gestión del islam en España y cómo interviene el Estado para encontrar soluciones a las diversas cuestiones que preocupan a las comunidades musulmanas.
Abstract: The article sheds light on the process of institutionalizing Islam in Spain and highlights the role played by the Spanish Constitution of 1978 and the Religious Liberty Law ratified by Spain in 1980 to guarantee freedom of worship as a fundamental human right. Spain, as a religiously diverse country, recognizes the Islamic component through the signing of a Cooperation Agreement with the Islamic Commission of Spain (CIE) in 1992. However, the Islamic Federations that make up the CIE are mired in internal squabbles for leadership, which undermined the rights of the Muslim community in Spain for more than three decades. 0is research also aims to highlight the factors that hinder handling Islam in Spain and how the state intervenes to find solutions to the different problems concerning Muslim communities.
