Resumen
Este trabajo expone las tensiones de la idea de universidad previas a la Reforma Universitaria, haciendo hincapié en el pensamiento de distintos filósofos e intelectuales argentinos a partir de, en primer lugar, su visión de la relación entre la universidad, la sociedad y el estado; en segundo lugar, la comprensión de las distintas posiciones sobre la ciencia en la universidad y, en tercer lugar, mediante la exposición de algunas de las cuestiones sobre los modelos institucionales, los procesos formativos y los contenidos de enseñanza. Finalmente, se reflexiona sobre los cuestionamientos a la idea y función de la universidad como una manera de establecer una nueva identidad para la misión institucional. De este modo, el artículo se propone establecer un conjunto de nociones y problemas sobre la universidad en la Argentina que anteceden y continúan más allá de la Reforma Universitaria. Todas estas cuestiones de la universidad argentina a principios del siglo xx se enmarcan en la historia político-institucional de nuestro país, en general, y de la historia de la filosofía y de la cultura, en particular.

This article exposes the tensions of the university idea prior to the University Reform, emphasizing the thinking of different Argentine philosophers and intellectuals from, first, their vision of the relationship between the university, society and the state; secondly, the comprehension of the different positions on science in the university and, thirdly, by exposing some of the questions about the institutional models, the formative processes and the teaching contents. Finally, we reflect on the questioning of the idea and function of the university as a way to establish a new identity for the institutional mission. In this way, the article aims to establish a set of notions and problems about the university in Argentina that precede and continue beyond the University Reform. All these issues of the national university in the early twentieth century are framed in the politicalinstitutional history of our country in general, and the history of philosophy and culture in particular.
