Resumen
Resumen: ¿Cómo podemos entender dónde estamos situados en materia de unidad en el viejo continente, si no entendemos su pasado en forma íntegra? Para entender en qué momento empieza a gestarse la idea de una Europa unida, no debemos sesgar nuestro análisis tomando como punto de partida a las dos grandes guerras mundiales. En tal caso, hay que remontarse a épocas anteriores, donde también hubo grandes guerras que produjeron que Europa viviera en una constante guerra civil. El objetivo de la presente investigación consiste en mostrar un abanico de ideas que comenzaron a plantearse que una Europa unida para lograr la paz era posible. Para lograr tal objetivo, hemos aplicado una metodología de investigación científica descriptiva y explicativa, por medio de la cual analizamos las diferentes ideas que se fueron desarrollando en torno a la mirada sobre la unión regional para entender la complejidad que implica la unidad en una región en donde las fuentes de sus problemas más destacados son las constantes luchas por las hegemonías territoriales, religiosas y culturales. Llegamos a la conclusión que, desde siglos anteriores a las dos grandes guerras mundiales se ha ido construyendo el germen de lo que hoy denominamos la Unión Europea.
Abstract: How can we understand where we are in terms of unity in the old continent, if we do not understand its past in its entirety? To understand when the idea of a united Europe begins to take shape, we must not bias our analysis by taking the two great world wars as a starting point. In this case, we must go back to previous times, where there were also great wars that caused Europe to live in a constant civil war. The objective of this research is to show a range of ideas that began to suggest that a Europe united to achieve peace was possible. To achieve this objective, we have applied a descriptive and explanatory scientific research methodology, through which we analyze the different ideas that were developed around the view of regional union to understand the complexity that unity implies in a region in where the sources of its most prominent problems are the constant struggles for territorial, religious and cultural hegemonies. We come to the conclusion that, centuries before the two great world wars, the germ of what we call the European Union today has been built.
