The purpose of this paper is to analyze the process by which China's presence in Africa has been increasing in recent decades based on an alternative model of bilateral relations focused on cooperation and mutual benefit that departs, at least rhetorically, from the classic model of exploitation by the traditional colonial powers. However, in practice, some aspects of these relationships seem to move away from the initial model, establishing situations of exploitation of natural resources and economic dependence in the countries of the region that could be the cause of a series of problems or challenges in these relationships in the future.
